Back in the fall when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, I found myself craving a creative outlet. I needed something else to put my mind too. I made some cards that said “Tell you mountains how big your God is”. In the thick of chemo days, I tried to remember my circumstances are not a surprise to God and he is ultimately in control. He continuously provided during these challenging weeks, from meal train dinners to visits with friends to play dates with new friends, extra grandparent help, to prayer warriors holding us up when we have felt weak.
We have seen God’s faithfulness and provision. One of my biggest fears in all this was getting sick, it’s been winter in Minnesota, it’s inevitable with little kids you get sick. “Somehow” we never got sick, I kept repeating Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear…’ Even through my fears he has protected us and provided.
We celebrated my last chemo appointment yesterday! On our way to the hospital, the song by Chris McClarney “Speak To The Mountains” came on and I turned it up- the chorus goes:
“So I won’t be shaken
I won’t be moved
My God is faithful
His promise is true
So I speak to the mountains
Oh, it’s time to move
‘Cause my God is bigger
Better, stronger, greater than you…”
What a full circle moment, Tell your mountains how big your God is.
It still feels surreal, it’s been 16 weeks of chemo. I rang the bell and was able to thank all the wonderful nurses that have had a place in this journey with us. One chapter is closed and we are moving onto the next. I have surgery planned for May 13th. Continued prayers as we navigate the surgery and days after would be appreciated.
Thank you for all the support in all the many ways, moving onto the next chapter with continued hope.
